Illuminated Cloud is a development tool created by Scott Wells, a veteran software developer and architect. The tool was born out of a need for modern development tools for the Force.com Platform-as-a-Service. Illuminated Cloud brings the feature set and capabilities of JetBrains IntelliJ IDEA's Java IDE to Apex and Visualforce developers. Since its release, Illuminated Cloud has been refined and enhanced based on user feedback and experiences. The company's goal is to narrow the gap between the experience offered for Salesforce development by Illuminated Cloud and that offered for Java development by IntelliJ IDEA.
